
Attack on four journalists : None arrested after four days of incident in Gowainghat

Police did not arrest any accussed in the case of attack on four journalists including Bangla TV and The Country Today Correspondent Md. Dulal Hossain Raju, in Gowainghat, Sylhet.
It is alleged that though four days have passed after the incident, Gowainghat police have not arrested anyone yet.
It is learnt that on March 17, after collecting news from Gowainghat Upazila, Bangla TV Correspondent Md. Dulal Hossain Raju, Nagarik TV Correspondent Salman Shah, Anand TV Correspondent Md. Ibrahim Ali, Joy TV Correspondent Md. Shakil Ahmed and Channel A1 correspondent Naeem Ahmed were returning home from Gowainghat Police Station on two motorcycles.
As soon as they reached the market adjacent to Jaflong Bridge at 11 pm, terrorists led by Humayun, Chhatra League leaders Sanwar, Salauddin, Sufian and Anjatnama, along with 15/20 other people, attacked the media men with local weapons in a pre-planned manner with the intention of killing them, causing bloody injuries and snatching cash, motorcycles, cameras, wireless microphones, mobile sets and other devices.
Meanwhile, locals rescued the media workers injured in the attack and admitted them to Gowainghat Hospital. After being taken to the hospital, journalist Dulal Hossain Raju's condition was critical due to cerebral hemorrhage, so the doctor referred him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Doctors at Osmani Hospital said, Raju will take a long time to recover due to heavy weapon injuries all over his body and a fatal blow to the right side of his head and hemorrhage, but his CT scan will be done.
Other media workers are healthy after treatment. In this incident, journalist Dulal Hossain Raju's brother Md. Akbar Hossain filed a case with Gowainghat Police Station as the plaintiff, in which the alleged journalist Humayun Ahmed of Chhailakhel 8th Khand village and his 3 sons Sanwar Hossain, Sala Uddin and Sufian Ahmed have been named as accused in the case. In addition, 15 to 20 other people are listed as accused in the Anjatnama.
Gowainghat Police Station OC Sarkar Tofafel Ahmed said, "Our operation is ongoing to arrest those involved in the attack on journalists and the recovery of stolen motorcycles, cameras, wireless microphones, and mobile sets. Basically, Humayun and his son, Chhatra League cadre Sanwar, are on the list of 57/58 in the devil hunt of East Jaflong. RAB and DB police are working to arrest these devils. However, after four days of the journalist attack, no accused has been arrested so far, raising many questions in the public mind.
Journalist leaders working in print and electronic media in Jaintapur and Gowainghat have demanded the immediate arrest of attacker Humayun and bringing him under the law.
