Army officer shot, stabbed dead in Cox's Bazar during joint drive

An Army official has been shot to death in Cox's Bazar Chakaria upazila during an operation at Momaizpara area.
The deceased was Lt Tanjim Sarwar Nirjan, a resident of Tangail's Mirer Betka village.
According to Chakaria Police Station OC Manzur Quader Bhuiyan said a joint team went to Momaizpara area under Dulhazara union at about 3:30AM on Tuesday to recover arms. When Tanjim tried to caught dacoits, a scuffle took place between the gang members and Lt Tanjim.
At one stage, the gang opened fire on him and also stabbed him indicriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Tanjem succumbed to his injuries on the way to Cox's Bazar hospital.
Three dacoits were detained from the scene, the OC added.
The body has been kept at Sadar Hospital morgue.
Rashedul Alam Khan, assistant director of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said they will inform details about this later.
