As the severity of winter increases in the hills, the Bandarban Army Region, as part of its humanitarian assistance, has distributed winter clothes among 300 underprivileged cold-affected families in Sadar Upazila. The distribution took place on Wednesday morning at the cantonment football ground.
Major Parvez Rahman, G2I, was present as the chief guest and personally handed over the winter clothes to the underprivileged families. Other members of the Bangladesh Army and journalists were also present at the event.
While distributing the winter clothes , Major Parvez Rahman said that due to the comparatively harsher winter conditions in the hilly district of Bandarban, poor and helpless people suffer the most. Especially people living in remote and inaccessible areas lead inhumane lives due to the lack of adequate winter clothing. The Army has undertaken this humanitarian initiative to stand beside them. He further said that in addition to ensuring security, the Bangladesh Army regularly carries out humanitarian assistance activities in disaster-prone and remote areas of the country as part of its social responsibility. Distribution of winter clothing during the cold season, relief assistance during natural disasters, medical services, and rehabilitation activities are ongoing humanitarian initiatives of the Army and will continue in the future.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction after receiving the winter clothing, saying that getting blankets during the severe cold has brought them significant relief. They expressed their gratitude to the Bangladesh Army for this humanitarian initiative.
