Ansar-VDP's example of voluntary service: One km muddy road repaired in Faridpur
Faridpur Correspondent
In an exemplary initiative of community service, members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) voluntarily repaired a key unpaved road in Nagarkanda Upazila of Faridpur on Thursday restoring communication for thousands of local residents.
The nearly one-kilometer stretch connecting Ramnagar Union Bazar to Ramnagar Madhyapara Puja Mandir had turned heavily waterlogged and muddy due to recent rainfall, bringing vehicular and pedestrian movement to a complete standstill.
Recognizing the severe distress faced by the public, VDP members stepped up under the leadership of Upazila Instructor Nuruzzaman Tipu and Union Team Leader Md. Harez Mullah to fill the damaged road with sand and make it fully motorable once again.
The timely renovation has brought immense relief to villagers, including students, worshippers, and daily commuters heading to Ramnagar Government Primary School, local mosques, and the temple. Expressing gratitude, local residents highly praised the force for its dedicated civic action.
Formed in 1976 by former President Ziaur Rahman to maintain law and order at the grassroots and foster socio-economic growth, the Village Defence Party continues to demonstrate its vital importance through active public service and grassroots development.
According to a press release signed by Md. Najmus Sakib, Assistant Director and Public Relations Officer of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, the force remains committed to serving communities and driving socio-economic progress across the country.
