Anchored launch in Barishal burnt in fire

A docked passenger launch was burnt in a fire at Patarhat terminal in Mehendiganj upazila of Barishal early Friday.
However, no casualty was reported as there was no passenger in the launch when it caught the fire around 3am, launch staff Monir Hossain said, adding that the fire erupted inside it suddenly and emitted smoke.
Owner Ruhul Amin said the launch was scheduled to go to Barishal from Patarhat terminal at 9am.
He suspected that the fire might have erupted from mosquito coils.
Mehendiganj police station’s Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Hossain said on information a police team visited the spot but they were yet to receive any complaint in this regard.
