Many of the old cabinet ministers are staying in the new cabinet. They said they received a call from the Cabinet Division to take the oath at Bangabhavan today ( Thursday) .

A source also said that the new cabinet may have 36 members.

Among the old ones are : Minister of Liberation War Affairs A. K. M. Mozammel Haque, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader, Minister of Agriculture Dr Md. Abdur Razzak, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Law Minister Anisul Haque, Local Government Minister Md. Tajul Islam, Education Minister Dipu Moni, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and Deputy Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury will be in the new cabinet.

Besides, Jahangir Kabir Nanak has received the phoe call.

The President will first administer the Prime Minister's oath at Bangabhaban at 7 pm on Thursday. After that, the President will administer the oath to the Ministers, State Ministers and Deputy Ministers. After the swearing in, a notification will be issued by allocating offices from the cabinet department.

If the new cabinet takes oath, they will be the new government of the country. The previous cabinet will remain in place until it is sworn in. Once the new cabinet is sworn in, the previous cabinet will automatically be overruled.

Earlier, on January 7, the 12th National Assembly elections were held. Awami League won the election without BNP. Out of 299 constituencies, private results are available for 298 constituencies. Awami League won 222 of them. Bangladesh Workers Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSAD and Bangladesh Welfare Party won one seat each.

Newly -elected Members of Parliament took oath on Wednesday (January 10) morning. Sheikh Hasina was elected Leader of the Parliament in the parliamentary party meeting held after the oath. Awami League President Sheikh Hasina went to Bangabhaban after Wednesday evening. There the President. Sahabuddin decided to appoint him as Prime Minister.

At the same time, the President has agreed to form a new cabinet under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
