AL, Sharamk League leaders arrested in city

Police on Tuesday night arrested two leaders of Awami League (AL) and its associate body Shramik League from the city's Khilgaon area on charges of attacking on the anti-discrimination student movement.
The arrested were AL vice-president of ward no-2 Rana alias Pistol Rana and former president of ward no-1 Sharamik League of Khialgaon Thana unitTajul Islam, said a police press release.
Khilgaon Thana police apprehended the duo as they have been identified through scrutiny of the video footages of the incident.
The arrestees were accused in a case over killing Sabbir Hossain by opening indiscriminate fire on the student-people movement in front of Malibagh Community Centre on August 4.
A case was lodged with Khilgaon Police Station to this end on September 10.
