BNP Joint Secretary General and MP for Narsingdi-1 Sadar constituency Khairul Kabir Khokon said, for 17 long years, the 'fascist and mafia' government has brought the country to the brink of destruction by committing injustice, torture, murder, disappearances and looting. Countless people have lost their lives while protesting against this illegal government.
Nearly two thousand people, including Abu Sayeed, Wasim Akram and Tamim, lost their lives in the student-public movement against discrimination in July-August. Out of these, 422 leaders and activists from the BNP family alone were martyred. Nearly 30 thousand people were injured and maimed in this movement and many lost their eyes and became blind forever. The Awami League was banned during the interim government's tenure for this genocide and crimes against humanity.
