ACC launches probe into assets of journalist Munni Saha

Staff Correspondent

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an inquiry into allegations of undisclosed wealth and irregular transactions involving journalist Munni Saha and her husband, Kabir Hossain Taposh, owner of advertising agency MS Promotional.

ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain on Thursday (Jan 2) confirmed the matter to the media.

The allegations include transactions of Tk 134 crore through their bank accounts, a current balance of Tk 14 crore, and the acquisition of assets beyond known income sources.

Besides, the ACC has decided to investigate claims of misappropriation of public funds and unnecessary expenditures in the construction of Bangabandhu sculptures and murals across the country.

The commission will also probe alleged irregularities, including excessive billing and embezzlement worth thousands of crores, in the Mujib Killa development project.

Issues such as faulty deep tube wells and mismanagement by project directors, contractors, and others are under scrutiny.
