The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a notice seeking an account of the assets of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and former National Board of Revenue (NBR) officer Matiur Rahman. Along with that, the account of the wealth of their wives, sons and daughters has also been sought in the notice.

ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmin confirmed that the notice was given from the ACC head office on Tuesday . It is stated that, within 21 working days of receiving the notice, the accounts of immovable and immovable assets in their name must be submitted to the ACC.

According to ACC sources, huge movable and immovable assets of Benazir Ahmed and his family members have been seized and blocked in three rounds. Those assets are inconsistent with his legitimate income. That is why their wealth has been identified as proceeds of crime.

Similarly, the ACC has the information of movable and immovable assets of Matiur Rahman and his family members; which is abnormal than his legitimate income. According to the investigation of ACC, during his working life, he earned legal money at an arithmetic rate, and earned illegal wealth at a geometric rate.

He has become the owner of houses, cars, flats, plots, land, business, shares, money deposited in banks, term deposits in banks and other immovable assets through irregularities and corruption. He kept the proceeds of crime in the name of his two wives and children. In Dhaka, Gazipur, Savar, Narsingdi, Barisal and other places, there are various assets including houses, land, resorts, flats and plots. There are other immovable assets as well.
