ACC arrests Sonagazi PIO officer with bribe money

Sonagazi Upazila (PIO) Project Implementation Officer Mohammad Al Sayeed and his office assistant have been arrested by the ACC with a bribe of Tk 1 lakh.
He and his assistant were arrested on Thursday afternoon based on a tip-off about a bribery transaction at the upazila's PIO office.
It has been alleged that a PIO working in the upazila office for a long time has started looting in Sonagazi in the name of implementing a project. ACC officials said that following a complaint that a contractor named Humayun had demanded a bribe of 1.2 million taka, an 8-member team led by Faruk Ahmed, Deputy Director of the ACC Feni Noakhali affiliated office, conducted a raid. Upon receiving the truth, the ACC officials present arrested him and his office assistant Abu Naser red-handed with the money and tied his hands to the chair. Later, when they informed the journalists, they came and took a picture of him with his hands tied to the chair.
ACC Assistant Director Chinmoy Chakraborty filed a case against Al Said and his office assistant under Section 161 of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1860 and arrested them.
