
Abu Sayed murder: ICT orders completing investigation within 2 months

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Wednesday ordered the authorities concerned to complete the investigation into the case filed on charge of crimes against humanity over the killing of Begum Rokeya University Student Abu Sayed during the July uprising and submit the report by June 15.
The three-member bench of the ICT led by its chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order after hearing a petition.The court also asked to keep former sub-inspector Amir Hossain, constable Sujon Roy, former proctor of Begum Rokeya University Shariful Islam and banned Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury Akash in jail after showing them arrested in the case.
All the four accused were produced before the court in the morning.
Prosecutor Mizanul Islam said preliminary evidence of crime was found against 26 people in the murder case and the investigation is in its final stages.
On March 2, the tribunal asked police to produce four accused in the case before the tribunal on April 9.
Abu Sayed, a 12th batch student of Begum Rokeya University's English Department, was killed in the anti-discrimination student movement on July 16 afternoon - thus becoming the first student killed in police firing in the July movement.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amir Hossain and Constable Sujan Chandra Roy were suspended and attached to the police lines for their alleged involvement in the killing.
