90 former ministers, MPs, political high ups flee country

As former prime minister Sheikh Hasina escaped, Awami League MP-ministers are in dire straits. Although many of them were able to leave the country after realizing the opportunity, many trapped MP-ministers and numerous activists are fleeing in fear of their lives. Many of them have also sought refuge in different embassies.
Awami League influential businessmen and corrupt officials and employees of various government institutions are in this list.
During the anti-discrimination student movement, 90 former ministers-MPs and political leaders fled the country in 27 days from July 14 to August 10. Besides, at least 10 ministers-MPs and influential people have been detained at the airport.
At least 25 ministers-MPs, political leaders and corrupt government officials have returned after observing the situation at the airport. Shahjalal Airport and related sources said.
Meanwhile, since one day after the fall of the government on August 6, all the airports of the country including Shahjalal have been strictly imposed.
Multiple lists are sent to all immigration check points including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The list also includes the names of people close to the Hasina government, officials of the Prime Minister's Office, leaders of the central, metropolitan and district committees of the Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League.
Apart from this, names of members of Hasina government's cabinet, MPs of the National Parliament, presidents of parliamentary committees and party officials in important positions in the administration are also on the list of ban on leaving the country.
Former Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while fleeing the country on August 6 after the fall of the Hasina government. But former finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and former state minister Tarana Halim left the country on that day. This information is known from immigration sources.
Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country on Monday afternoon. Before that, many top leaders of Awami League, legislators and ministers fled the country.
It is reported that Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader left the country for Singapore on Sunday night. He was recently in charge of the former Road Transport and Bridges Minister. Sheikh Hasina's relative and Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas left Dhaka for Singapore in a Biman flight on Sunday morning.
Law Minister Anisul Haque was busy with various activities since the beginning of the movement. He has not been seen since Monday morning. His mobile phone is also switched off. It is reported that Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury fled the country that night even though he stayed at Banani's residence in the capital on Monday. State Minister for Information Mohammad A Arafat's phone was also found to be switched off. His whereabouts could not be ascertained.
It is also learnt from related sources that Narayanganj-2 Member of Parliament and former Jatiya Sangsad Whip Nazrul Islam Babu left the country on Turkish Airlines at 6:50 am on July 14 during the anti-discrimination movement.

BCB President, Sports Minister and Kishoreganj-6 Constituency MP Nazmul Hasan Papon left the country on July 20 at 12:55 PM in SriLankan Airlines (EL-190).
Brahmanbaria-1 Constituency MP Syed AKM Ekramuzzaman left the country at 11:40 PM on July 21, Noakhali-2 Constituency MP Morshed Alam went to Singapore on July 22 with BG 584, Comilla-5 Constituency MP AM Taher left the country at 12:10 PM on July 25. . Apart from fleeing the country, most of the influential leaders and MP-ministers of the Awami League have gone into hiding. Many are trying to leave the country. Leaders and activists of the party's associates and fraternal organizations also donned clothes. Attacks, vandalism and arson on the houses of party leaders and activists continue across the country. Many have taken refuge with their relatives for fear of attacks and lawsuits.
The leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organizations were in the field all over the country, including Dhaka, until August 4. According to various sources, hundreds of ministers, MPs and leaders have fled the country till Saturday. They traveled to various countries including India, Russia, United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, China and Dubai. Many of them sent their family members even if they could not go themselves.
According to sources, many Awami League leaders and ministers have tried to leave the country. Former MP of Chittagong-3 Sandwip Constituency Mahfuzur Rahman Mita went to Shahjalal International Airport to escape Australia with his family and returned after being chased by the students. A second attempt to go to Calcutta failed.
Meanwhile, Awami League's Trinamool leaders and activists are not taking well the matter of the party chief, top party leaders and MP-ministers leaving the country and hiding themselves.
They say that those who have acquired huge amounts of money with the privileges of the party are fleeing the country leaving the workers in danger. Ordinary workers are now under attack. Their houses are being burnt. Being beaten. Many have left their homes and taken refuge with their relatives fearing attacks and lawsuits. They do not know what to do? At the same time, they are also raising questions about the political future of Awami League in this crisis.
