9 detained with 2,000 kg of jatka, one trawler in Chandpur

The Coast Guard has detained nine people along with 2,000 kg of jatka and 1 trawler in a raid in the Meghna River in Chandpur.
Lieutenant Commander Md. Siam-ul-Haq, Media Officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, gave this information on Friday afternoon.
Based on secret information, a special operation was conducted in the Meghna River adjacent to the Char Bhairabi area of Chandpur by the BCG Station Chandpur and BCG Outpost Haimchar under the Dhaka Zone of the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
During the operation, a wooden trawler was searched from the said area and 09 people were arrested along with 2,000 kg of jatka and the trawler transporting the jatka. Later, the seized Jatka was distributed among local madrasas, orphanages, poor and needy families in the presence of the Haimchar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer.
The seized trawler was handed over to the Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer and the arrested persons were handed over to the Haimchar Police Station.
