6th Sylhet Book Fair-25 begins

The 11-day-long '6th Sylhet Book Fair 25' is going to start next Tuesday (January 7). The stall of the Central Shaheed Minar in Chowhatta of Sylhet city is already being prepared. This book fair is being organized by Kalantar Publishing and Jasim Book House in collaboration with Sylhet City Corporation. A detailed program is being carried out by the organizing committee to implement the book fair.
On Monday (January 5), Abul Kalam Azad, convener of the book fair implementation committee and head of Kalantar Publishing House, and Md. Jasim Uddin, member secretary and head of Jasim Book House Publishing House, said in a statement that the Central Shaheed Minar book fair from January 7 to 17 will be filled with the presence of readers, writers and literary enthusiasts. This year's book fair is dedicated to the martyrs of the student movement against discrimination. 29 publishing houses from Dhaka and Sylhet are participating in the fair.
These include Adhunik Publishing, Guardian Publishing, Kalantar Publishing, Jasim Book House, Prachhad Publishing, Islam House Publication, Darus Salam Bangladesh, Rimjhim Publishing, Muslim Village, Lokman Publishing, Maktab Publishing, Sojlar Publication, Mecca Publication, Boi Palli, Sian Publication, Satyayan Publishing, Professor Publication, Bindu Publishing, Penfield Publication, Alif Publication, Ragib Rabeya Foundation, Nongor Publishing, Maruf Publishing, Swarbarna Publishing and Paitha Publishing.
Ded body recovered in Jaintapur
Police recovered the body of a young man in a bloody state from the area adjacent to Lakshipur village No. 2 on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway.
The deceased has been identified as Salauddin (35). He is said to be the son of the deceased Khalek Mia of Maniyand village in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria district.
For the past 7 years, he has been involved in the salon business in the Mosque Market in Bangla Bazar area No. 4 of Jaintapur Upazila in Sylhet.
According to police sources, Salahuddin was returning to Bangla Bazar No. 4 after dinner from his cousin's house last Saturday night. After that, he had no contact with anyone else in the family.
On Sunday (January 5) morning, a local person saw Salahuddin's body lying in a bloody state on the side of the highway. Later, the locals informed the Jaintapur Model Police Station, and the police came and recovered the body from the spot. At that time, the body was in a bruised and bloody state.
Initially, the police suspected that he might have died after being hit by a speeding car. Glass fragments were also found around the body.
Later, the Tamabil Highway Police team arrived at the scene. At that time, Jaintapur Union Parishad No. 2 Chairman Fakhrul Islam and former chairman Haji Alamgir Hossain were present at the scene.
Tamabil Highway Police, Sylhet Region Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Habibur Rahman confirmed the matter. He said that necessary measures are being taken after preparing the post-mortem report of the recovered body.
