6 members of inter-district dacoit gang arrested in Kalapara

Locals detained six members of the inter-district dacoit gang in Patuakhali Kalapara. They were arrested from the house of Kasem, a member of the bandit group of Gamurtala village of Nilganj union of the upazila at nine o'clock on Tuesday morning. Later the locals handed them over to the police.
The arrested are Chagir Howladar (33), Rahat Fakir (27), Monir Fakir (27), Safiq Ghazi (28), Abul Hashem (40) and Rakibul Khan (27). Two of them live in Gamurtala village and four live in different villages of neighboring Amtali upazila.
According to the police and local sources, the detainees were coming and going to Kasem's house for a long time. A robbery took place at the house of a cloth merchant named Russell Howladar in Gamurtala area on Tuesday at 3 am.
At that time, the members of the dacoit gang entered the house by cutting the window grill, took all the family members hostage at gun point, bound their hands, feet and faces and looted two lakh rupees and two loads of gold ornaments. Later Russell Howladar's wife Nupur Begum went to Kasem's house and identified the members of the dacoit gang.
Jewel Islam, OC of Kalapara Police Station, said that preparations are underway to file a robbery case in this incident. Two of the accused already have robbery cases in different police stations of the country. If the case is registered, they will be handed over to the Kalapara Judicial Court.
