6 acres of forest land recovered from encroachers in Gazipur

In a drive on Wednesday, the Forest Department recovered six acres of forest land, worth Tk 50 crore, from illegal encroachment in Kaliakair Upazila, Gazipur district.
During the operation, over 200 under-construction and newly-built houses were evicted from the forest land in Changra area under Kaliakair range of the Forest Department.
The drive was carried out under the directive of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, said a media release.
Members of the Bangladesh Army, RAB, and Police, alongside staff from the Forest Department, joined the operation, which was supervised by the district administration and the Kaliakair Upazila officer.
Such joint operations will continue against forest crimes and encroachment to protect the forest, forest land, wildlife and biodiversity.
