50 more landless, homeless families get PM's gifted houses in Naikhongchari

"Not a single person of Bangladesh will remain homeless"- In implementation of this directive of the Honorable Prime Minister, as part of the program of providing land and houses to all landless and homeless families in the country, the Prime Minister will, on Wednesday through a video conference across the country, including land to the beneficiary families of the third phase remaining and fourth phase scheduled houses. He inaugurated the house transfer program.

In continuation of that, the upazila administration organized a discussion meeting and opening ceremony in connection with the video conference of the Honorable Prime Minister in the premises of Shaheed Minar of Naikhongchari upazila at 9 am. 50 landless and homeless beneficiaries of the fourth phase of resettlement in Naikhongchari upazila were formally awarded certificates, handover of keys and land papers. Chairman of Upazila Parishad and President of Upazila Awami League Professor Mohammad Shafiullah was present as the chief guest in the program and Upazila Executive Officer Romen Sharma presided over the programme.

The chief guest said in his speech that the current Prime Minister Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina is going to turn the people of a war-torn country, the people of a needy country, a food-deficit country into a developed country in 2041. That's why the chief guest urged everyone to move forward with an eye on the future.

Siraj Miah of Reju Hedmanpara, Sonaichari, who received the house as a gift from the Prime Minister, said that he had a very difficult time. He never imagined getting a house like this. He thanked the Prime Minister for that. Talking to the beneficiaries in this way, it can be seen that they are overwhelmed with joy at getting a house and cannot find the words to say.

It is also known that according to the latest field survey in the upazila, the total number of landless and homeless families is currently 687. 209 families have been rehabilitated in the first, second and third phases and 50 families have already been given houses in the second installment of the fourth phase. It has 25 machang houses and 35 semi-paved houses specially designed for hilly areas.

Sixty more houses available in the second installment of the fourth phase are in progress. Including the first installment of the first, second, third and fourth phase, out of total 259 houses, 57 in Sonaichari Union, 78 in Ghumdhum Union, 29 in Baishari Union and 33 in Sadar Union. Out of the existing sixty houses, there are 12 with seven machang houses and five single large semi-pakas in Sonaichari union, 11 single big semi-pakas in Sadar union, 15 with 12 machangs and three single semi-pakas in Dochhari union, 11 total including six machangs and five single semi-pakas in Baishari union and Ghumdhum. Union has decided to provide houses to a total of 60 families including 11 single semi-paved houses.

Principal of Haji M.A.Kalam Government College ,O.A.M. Rafiqul Islam,General Secretary of Upzilla Awami League and Zilla Parishad member Kanwan Chak, Chairman and members of five unions, officials of government departments and beneficiaries were present in the event.
