5 houses burnt to ashes in Boalkhali

Five residential houses burnt due to electrical short circuit in Boalkhali. The incident took place at the house of Khuilya Mia Chowdhury of Ward No. 3 of Bengura, Sarwatli Union of the upazila at around 3 am on Saturday.

Boalkhali fire service station sub officer. Saidur Rahman said that the fire started from an electrical short circuit and 5 houses including a tin shed were burnt. After getting the information, two units of Boalkhali Fire Service tried to bring the fire under control for about 2 hours. The fire caused a loss of four lakh rupees. However, assets of Tk 10 lakh have been preserved.

A local person said that the family members were able to get out of the house after seeing the fire. No household items could be saved. Now the Agnidurgat families are living a bare life under the open sky during these winter days.

Meanwhile, the upazila administration visited the affected areas due to electrical short circuit and initially provided rice, blankets, books and educational materials to the students.

UNO Himadri Khisa handed over these items to the affected families. Boalkhali Army Camp Commander Major Russell, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Sujan Kanti Das and Secondary Education Officer Salma Islam were present.

Meanwhile, UNO Himadri Khisa said, due to the electrification of Boalkhali Fire Service Station, the amount of damage has decreased. He thanked all the officers and employees of the fire service station on behalf of the upazila administration.
