Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun adorned 488 cops with “IGP’s Exemplary Service Badge-2023” in recognition of their excellent performances.
The chief of the police force adorned them with the badge, also called the IGP’s Badge, on the Parade Ground at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital on Wednesday, the second day of Police Week 2024.
The IGP also distributed crests and certificates among the winners of the Shield Parade and the units who performed their best to recover illegal firearms and drugs.
The IGP said that there is no room for drugs, militants and terrors on the soil of Bangladesh.
He urged the force to be technology-dependent, people-oriented, service-oriented, people-friendly and women-children-oriented.
“I want to see police stations as the places of getting justice. For this, the first and main work will be good behaviour, along with hearing the words of service seekers and taking action as per laws. No interruption in this regard will be acceptable,” he said.
Additional IGP and President of Parade Committee Kamrul Ahsan thanked all.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Police Week at the same venue.
That day, she adorned 400 policemen with BPM and PPM medals for their bravery and services.
