4 operations of Coast Guard : 10 members of notorious bandit 'Parvez Bahini 'held with firearms in Cox's Bazar, 3 fishermen held hostage by bandits rescued , huge fuel seized while smuggling

The Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted 4 separate operations on Saturday and arrested 10 members of notorious bandit Parvez Bahini with local firearms in Cox's Bazar, rescued 3 fishermen held hostage by bandits alive, arrested 8 smugglers along with a large amount of fuel oil and cement while smuggling to Myanmar, and safely returned 9 Bangladeshi nationals who were victims of a boat capsizing while going to Malaysia.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan gave this information in a press release on Saturday morning.
The press release said that based on a secret information, a special operation was conducted by the Coast Guard Station Cox's Bazar in the sea area adjacent to Kalatali Beach at 9 pm on Friday. During the operation, when a signal was given to a suspicious fishing boat to stop, the boat ignored the signal and tried to flee into the deep sea at high speed. At this time, the Coast Guard expedition team was able to chase and arrest the boat.
Later, after searching the boat, 10 active members of the notorious robber Parvez Bahini were arrested along with 2 country-made firearms, 2 rounds of live cartridges, country-made weapons and 3 fishermen along with the boat held hostage by the robbers were rescued alive.
On the other hand, at 12 pm and 3 am on Saturday, two separate operations were conducted by the Coast Guard Base Chittagong and Coast Guard Station Maheshkhali in the area adjacent to Shah Amanat Bridge under Sadarghat Police Station in Chittagong and the area adjacent to the estuary of the Bakkhali River in Cox's Bazar. During this time, 2 suspicious fishing boats were searched and 3 smugglers were arrested, including 5,000 liters of diesel, 54 liters of engine coolant, 70 liters of gear oil, 40 liters of super motor oil, 1 diesel engine, 4 gas cylinders worth about 6.71 million taka from the first boat, and 5 smugglers were arrested from the second boat with 450 bags of cement worth about 3.15 million taka.
Besides on April 9, 2026, at 1:00 pm, the Bangladeshi flagged ship M T. MEGHNA PRIDE, while en route from Chittagong to Indonesia, saw several people floating in the deep sea near the Andaman Islands with water drums/pieces of wood. A rescue operation was conducted and 9 Bangladeshi citizens (8 men and 1 woman) were rescued alive. Later, the ship handed over the rescued people to the Coast Guard ship Mansur Ali, which is patrolling the deep sea, at 2 am on Saturday.
Further legal action against the arrested robbers, smugglers, boats and seized goods, and the rescued hostage fishermen and Bangladeshi citizens has been taken.
The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future as well, the press release added.
