361 police stations resume operations Friday

Staff Correspondent

As many as 361 police stations resumed operations across the country Friday, the Bangladesh Police Headquarters claimed in a notification.

About 70 police stations resumed operations in metropolitan areas and 291 police stations resumed operations under different ranges, the headquarters said.

Many police stations resumed operations only partially with limited workforce as many police personnel remained weary of attacks on them by general people.

The army, ansar and BGB personnel are providing security cover for the police personnel returning to workstations.

Almost all police personnel across the country fled from public view on Monday (5 August) as angry people started violent attacks on them and police stations following the ouster of Sheikh Hasina-led government.

A large number of police members allegedly helped the authoritarian Sheikh Hasina-led government maintain its long 15-year grip on power through killings, arbitrary detentions and abductions of dissenters.
