35 RMG factories in Ashulia shut amid protests

Around 35 garment factories in Dhaka’s Ashulia have been forced to shut as seasonal workers started demonstrations on Sunday morning seeking permanent jobs and equal employment opportunities for men.
The Nabinagar-Chandra road was blocked leading to traffic congestion in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone area. Earlier in the morning, the agitating workers had also blocked the Baipail-Abdullahpur road, but later the industrial police, with support from the army, managed to persuade them to lift the blockade.
