3 passengers killed in Bogura bus-car collision

Three people were killed and two others injured in a crash between a bus and a private car on the Naogaon-Bagura regional highway in Bogura Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The accident happened around 10.30am in front of Erulia High School under the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Faim, 55, joint general secretary of Bogura District Motor Workers Union and its members Abdul Hannan, 44 and Algir Hossain, 42, confirmed Abdul Hamid Mithul, the president of union.
Meanwhile the details about the injured two, who are undergoing treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, could not be known immediately.
Quoting witnesses, Bogura Sadar Police Station sub-inspector Mizanur Rahman said the victims faced the tragic accident when they were heading towards Naogaon from Bogura.
On the way to Naogaon, when they reached Erulia, they attempted to overtake a speeding truck and collided head-on with a passenger bus coming from opposite direction, leaving three dead on the spot and two others critically injured.
Being informed, police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and the rescued two injured people were being treated at the hospital.
Police also seized the both vehicles from the spot, however, the driver of the bus and his associate managed to flee the scene, added the police official.
