3 killed, 17 injured in Khagrachhari violence

Three indigenous people died of their injuries at a hospital in Khagrachhari on Thursday and early Friday, hours after arson attacks and violence in the district.
About 17 people were injured in the incident.
The deceased were identified as Dhananjoy Chakma, 50, Rubel Tripura, 25, and Junan Chakma, 20.
Dhananjoy died on Thursday night and the two other victims died around 1:30 am on Friday while undergoing treatment at Adhunik Sadar Hospital.
Dhananjoy was injured in Dighinala, while Rubel and Junan sustained bullet injuries in Khagrachhari Sadar during the clash that broke out on Thursday afternoon.
Chattogram Range Police's Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ahsan Habib Palash, confirming the deaths, said that the bodies will be handed over to their respective families after the legal procedures.
The law enforcers are patrolling the areas to keep the situation under control, he added.
