
3 including local Jamaat leader killed in clash over land dispute in Cox's Bazar

Three people, including a local Jamaat-e-Islami leader, were killed in a clash between two families reportedly over a land dispute in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar today (6 April).
Several others were also injured during the clash that took place at around 11am in Kutupalong West Para of Rajapalong union, according to Md Helal Uddin, a member of Ward 9 of the local union parishad.The deceased were identified as Abdullah Al Mamun, 45, Abdul Mannan, 36, and Shahina Begum, 38. All were residents of the area and cousins by relation.Abdullah was also the ameer of Jamaat's Ward 9 committee in Rajapalong union.Citing locals, Helal Uddin said there had been a long-standing dispute between the families over the ownership of homestead land.
Confirming the incident, Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Arif Hossain said, "We have received reports that three people were killed and several others injured in a clash over a land dispute. A police team has visited the scene, and the bodies remain at the hospital."He added that police operations are ongoing to identify and arrest those involved.
