A three-day Land Service Fair-2026 titlled “People-friendly automated land management: Secure land, prosperous future” began in Barguna on Tuesday to promote digital land services and reduce public suffering in land-related matters.

The fair was inaugurated at 11:30 am at the Barguna Sadar Upazila Land Office premises. It is jointly organised by the Barguna district administration and the Barguna Sadar Upazila Land Office.

Like in other parts of the country, the central inauguration was held in Dhaka, where Prime Minister Tareq Rahman joined virtually to declare the fair open.

Presiding over the Barguna event, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Miz Taslima Akhter said the government is working to expand technology-based digital land services to make land management more people-friendly, transparent, and accessible. “The land fair will play an effective role in reducing public hardship related to land and serve as an important platform to raise awareness about digital land services,” she said.

She added that building a sustainable, transparent, and corruption-free land management system for future generations requires collective efforts, and urged citizens, journalists, public representatives, and civil society members to visit the fair and get acquainted with modern land services.

District Council Administrator and Barguna District BNP Convener Nazrul Islam Molla, along with government officials, public representatives, journalists, and civil society members, attended the inauguration. DC Miz Taslima Akhter and District Council Administrator Nazrul Islam Molla were presented with crests.

According to the organisers, the fair will run daily until 21 May. Visitors can learn about and access services including online registration on the land portal, e-mutation applications, online payment of land development tax, collection of khatiyan and DCR, and mouza map-related services.

To facilitate the public, special booths have been set up at the fairground for on-the-spot e-mutation applications, issuance of certified copies of khatiyan, and payment of land development tax.

Others present at the inauguration included Additional District Magistrate Swajal Chandra Shil, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shawon Majumder Suman, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Shah Aziz, Barguna Press Club President Md. Hafizur Rahman, PP Adv Nurul Amin, journalists from print and electronic media, and Atiqur Rahman Ishti, Editor of daily _Shesh Kathar Barta_.
