3 brick kilns fined Tk 6 lakh for cutting soil from govt land in Nesarabad

A mobile court has fined the owners of three brick kilns Tk 6 lakh for illegally cutting soil from government khas land in Nesarabad, Pirojpur.On Friday (April 3) afternoon, a mobile court was conducted in the West Sarengkathi area on the banks of the Sandhya River at the junction of Guarekha and Sarengkathi unions of the upazila.Nesarabad Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate of the court Amit Dutta presided over the court. The convicted bricks are Asha Bricks, Modern Bricks and Diamond Bricks Field.According to court sources, the brickfields in the upazila had been illegally extracting soil from private land for a long time. A raid was conducted there on Friday afternoon based on secret information. Later, in the mobile court, the executive magistrate of the court and UNO Amit Dutta imposed a fine of Tk 2 lakh each, totaling Tk 6 lakh, under the relevant section of the Balumahal and Soil Management Act, 2010. At this time, the brickfield representatives gave a written bond stating that they would not be involved in such illegal activities in the future. Later, the four trawlers filled with soil seized in the court raid were sent for filling the field of a local secondary school in Sutiakathi Union.In this regard, UNO and Executive Magistrate Amit Dutta said that regular campaigns will be conducted against such crimes in the interest of protecting the balance of the environment and conserving government resources. No one is above the law.
