The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested a ticket black marketer in a raid at Saidpur in Nilphamari on Monday.

The campaign was conducted by ACC at Plaza Super Market along with the railway station.

The three arrested are : Porter Shamim (45) of Station, father deceased Shafiq, Hatikhana Camp, Arif Hossain (30), Ainul Haque, Munsipara,

ACC team first arrested Sarwar Sarfaraz, owner of Global Computer, Saiful Islam, Munsipara. At that time, the porter of the station, Sardar Abbas and the owner of Fatima Computer, Matiar Rahma and Elias Pramanik, Munsipara , fled away listening about the operation of ACC.

The operation was led by Safdarul Islam, Assistant Director of ACC's integrated district office, Rangpur. He was accompanied by Deputy Director Nur Alam Siddique, Jayant Shaha, Rubel Hossain along with two SI of Saidpur Police Station and SI Mintu Ahmed of Railway Police Station.

ACC team first arrested Sarwar and later Arif from Plaza Market based on the information received from passengers in and around the station. Through them, Shamim was arrested with a ticket for two seats on October 13 for the Nilsagar Express train from Saidpur to Dhaka from the station area. Later they were released to the custody of the station authorities.

Detained Shamim said that he bought the ticket from one of the counters on Monday morning and will sell at a higher price later. He also said that many people, including the arrested global computer owner are involved with him regarding the ticket black market.

ACC Assistant Director Safdarul Islam said why it can’t be determined by the National Identity Card Number (NID), which ticket has been given against which NID. So what is the functionality of the associated software? People are being cheated on this pretext.

Moreover, the officials of the station are helping black marketers to give tickets on the pretext of damaged CCTV cameras, because many of them have been working in the same place for three or four years.

The station master was handed over to take a decision on the three arrested persons with instructions to take action in these matters.
