24 Upazila Parishad elections will be held in Rajshahi Division

418 platoon BGB has been deployed in the first phase to maintain law and order in order to conduct the sixth upazila parishad election in a free, fair and peaceful manner. 24 upazila elections of Rajshahi division will be held like all over the country.

The government has declared a general holiday on May 8 (Wednesday) on the occasion of the upazila parishad elections of the first phase. After this four-phase election, three-phase voting will be held on May 23, 29 and June 5. The total number of upazilas in the country is 495.

Kshetlal, Kalai and Akkelpur of Jaipurhat district of Rajshahi division, Sariakandi, Sonatala and Gabtali of Bogra district, Nachol, Gomstapur and Bholahat of Chapainawabganj district, Dhamirhat, Patoeitla, Mahadevpur and Badalgashi of Naogaon district, Godagari and Tanor of Rajshahi district, Sadar, Naldanga and Singra of Natore district, Sadar (EVM), Kazipur (EVM) and Belkuchi (EVM) of Sirajganj district, Santhia (EVM), Sujanagar (EVM) and Bara (EVM) of Pabna district.

On the morning of Tuesday, May 7, Border Guard Bangladesh Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam said that BGB will work as a mobile and striking force to maintain peace and order in the electoral area from May 6 to May 10 under 'In Aid to the Civil Power' to support the local civil administration in the Upazila Parishad elections to be held on Wednesday.
