
22 injured in Araihazar road accident

At least 22 people were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a covered van on the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway in Araihazar, Narayanganj. The accident occurred early Monday morning (June 16) in the Panchrukhi area of the upazila.
Eyewitnesses reported that around 5:00 a.m., a Sylhet-bound covered van (Dhaka Metro U-14-1426) collided with a Narayanganj-bound Jamuna Deluxe bus (Metro B-12-0660). The bus lost control and fell into a roadside ditch, injuring around 22 passengers.
Police and fire service personnel arrived at the scene after being informed by locals and rescued the injured, who were sent to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Araihazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khondokar Nasir Uddin confirmed the incident, saying, “Several passengers were injured. No deaths were reported. Both the drivers are absconding, and the vehicles have been seized by highway police.”
