2 buses torched in front of National Press Club

Two buses were set on fire in front of the National Press Club of the capital on Tuesday night.

The incident took place at a time when protests flared up in Dhaka and other parts of the country demanding quota reformation in government jobs.

Witnesses said the buses were heading towards Paltan from the High Court area. Some crude bombs were blasted before the vehicles were torched.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, firefighters were alerted to the incident around 8:30pm and the first unit reached the spot at 8:33pm.

The fire was brought under control at 8:36pm, it said.

No casualties were reported in the incident.
