
1st solo art exhibition of artist Dulal Chandra Das concludes in city

The 1st solo art exhibition of artist Dulal Chandra Das (Abir) concluded at Safiuddin Shilpalay Gallery at Dhanmondi in the capital Monday.
On the inaugural day of the event at Dhanmondi Road-4, House-21/A on February 14, Prof. Abul Bark Alvee, eminent artist and freedom fighter, Chandra Shekhor Saha, artist and designer, and Soumik Das, chief executive, Rong Bangladesh were present.
About 60 artworks of Dulal Chandra Das have been put on display at the 4-day exhibition titled ‘Handmade Paper: A Journey through Time, Tradition and Art’.
The exhibition is totally unique in the sense that papers, used for the artworks, were made through processing garment wastages and the rough fibres of banana tree. The artworks highlighted getting self-sufficiency through the reuse of wastage materials.
The artist himself made the papers, used in the artworks, on which he painted pictures. The exhibition, which drew a huge number of visitors, concluded at 8pm on Monday.
