Zakir Azad, Cumilla

Ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections, the main political party BNP has primarily selected  potential candidates for nine out of the 11 seats in Cumilla .

This information has been confirmed by various party sources. Among them, the top leaders of the party have also given the green signal by calling some of them. As a result, BNP workers and supporters are now quite excited as the potential candidates have been finalized.

On the other hand, there is a hint that the remaining 2 seats in Cumilla will be given concessions to the LDP and the NCP. With this hint, the direction of national politics has also become clear.

It is learnt  that on October 15, the central leaders of nine out of the 11 seats in Cumilla called the potential candidates and asked them to keep their mobile phones free. They were also instructed not to be in any public gatherings. Those who were contacted were the central leaders and the approved candidates of acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

It could not be confirmed whether anyone was contacted that night. However, the potential candidates who got the green signal are in a good mood. They have taken to the field with a new program. On the other hand, there is disappointment among the workers and supporters of the leaders who did not get the phone or signal. Among the potential candidates in the nine seats who have been given the green signal are: BNP standing committee member and former minister Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Cumilla Divisional Organizing Secretary of BNP Principal Selim Bhuiyan in Comilla-2 constituency, former MP Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad in Cumilla -3 constituency, former member secretary of district BNP Haji Jasim Uddin in Cumilla -5 constituency, BNP Chairperson's advisor and former MP Haji Amin Ur Rashid Yasin in Cumilla -6 constituency, District BNP President Zakaria Taher Suman in Cumilla -8 constituency, BNP Central Industrial Affairs Secretary Md. Abul Kalam in Cumilla -9 constituency, former MP Abdul Gafur Bhuiyan in Comilla-10 constituency and Chauddagram Upazila BNP President Kamrul Huda in Cumilla -11 Constituency.

Besides , information has been received that concessions have been given to partner parties in 2 constituencies in Cumilla . Of these two seats, the candidacies of NCP Divisional Chief Coordinator Hasanat Abdullah for Cumilla -4 and LDP Secretary General Redwan Ahmed for Cumilla-7 have almost been finalised.

After the news of the finalisation of the candidates was in the air, some leaders of Nangalkot and Lalmai Upazila BNP met BNP Standing Committee member Salah Uddin Ahmed on Monday evening and requested him to nominate BNP Chairperson's Advisor Monirul Haque Chowdhury for Nangalkot. A couple of days ago, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke to Monirul Haque Chowdhury. It is not known what they talked about.

Meanwhile, a huge commotion arose early Sunday morning after Cumilla District BNP Organizing Secretary Rajiur Rahman Rajib published the list of potential candidates for 11 seats on his Facebook profile. These potential candidates were seen excited. Their leaders and activists are also quite excited. The crowd of leaders and activists is gradually increasing in support of the candidates. However, a day later, Rajib deleted his Facebook post and claimed that his ID was hacked.

When asked, former MP Alhaj Abdul Gafur Bhuiyan, the potential candidate of BNP in Cumilla -10 constituency, said, "We are conducting our activities as per the instructions given by the party high command to continue working in the field. As far as I know, we will be called within a week."

Haji Amin Ur Rashid Yasin, the potential candidate of BNP in Cumilla -6 constituency, advisor to the party chairperson, said, "The first and main condition for BNP's nomination in this election is; those who were in the field during the movement, were with the leaders and activists and were not involved in any wrongdoing will be given nomination. I am number one in that criteria.

I am confident that I will get BNP's nomination in Cumilla -6 constituency, God willing."
