
12 robbers arrested in Bay by Coast Guard

Coast Guard has detained 12 robbers from the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday
Media officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, Lt. Siam-ul-Haq has confirmed this matter.
Based on secret information, it is known that a group of robbers are staying in Chittagong Barhinongar area for the purpose of robbing foreign ships. Based on the information received, a team of BCG Base Chittagong was stationed in Barhinongar area in a few boats in disguise today at around 0030 hours.
At approximately 0330 hours, the movement of an engine driven wooden boat about 2 miles north east of the Chittagong anchorage appeared to be suspicious. When the Coast Guard raiding party signaled the boat to stop, the people on the boat realized the presence of the Coast Guard and tried to escape quickly. Later the boat was arrested after 1 hour chase in rough sea.
Then the boat was searched: 12 robbers were arrested and 11 ramadas, one saws, one saws, one pliers, one spanners and 12 mobiles were seized.
According to the preliminary investigation, under the command of Md. Akbar, the main leader of the dacoit group, and led by Md. Salauddin (26), the said dacoit group went to Chittagong Barhinongar by boat from Ichanagar new bridge ghat under Karnaphuli police station in Chittagong at approximately 2130 hours on May 13.
It is also learnt that the bandits have been conducting such activities for a long time. The arrested robbers are Md Salauddin (26), Md Anwar Hossain (23), Kamal Hossain (23), Md Imon (19), Md Abu Taher (32), Md Islam (27), Md Faisal (20), Md Raju ( 37), Siratul Mustakim (17), Piyas Mondal (23), Md Alamgir (30) and Md Arif (30).
He further said that the arrested gang and seized goods were handed over to Patenga Model Police Station for further legal action.
