11 held in police raid on gambling den in Ashulia

Police arrested 11 people during a raid on a gambling den in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka. Gambling equipment and cash believed to have been used in the illegal activity were also seized during the operation.
The raid was conducted by Ashulia Police Station on Wednesday night.
According to police sources, the operation was carried out following a tip-off that a group of individuals was engaged in gambling behind Nazim Uddin's Market, near the slope adjacent to the Kathal Bagan Mosque in Dendabor area under Dhamsona Union of Ashulia. During the drive, police detained 11 individuals from the spot.
The detainees were identified as Md Siraj, 42; Md Raihan, 45; Md Jahangir, 34; Md Sohag, 38; Md Abdus Samad, 40; Md Taher, 55; Md Faruk, 56; Md Shahidul Islam, 36; Md Naim Ahmed Jony, 30; Md Sagar, 40; and Md Farid, 34.
Police said that a search of the detainees led to the recovery of three sets of playing cards and cash found on the gambling board. A case has been filed with Ashulia Police Station in connection with the incident.
Ashulia Police stated that such operations against criminal activities will continue in an effort to maintain law and order in the area.
