100 types of cakes attract people in Gafargaon 'Pitha ' Festival

There was a big crowd on both sides of the vast field of Gafargaon Government College in Mymensingh.

There were 50 stalls with 100 types of various type of cakes including snails, malpoa, kathal leaves, nakshi, shimful, meat rolls, chips, baskets, paisa, taras, pati sapta, kadam, pumpkins, etc. arranged on the tables of the stalls. Many students, guardians and the public were standing at the stalls and watching. Some were also tasting Bahari cakes.

In a festive atmosphere, Principal Professor Kazi Farooq Ahmed inaugurated the festival by hoisting the national flag at 11 am on Wednesday at the college ground.

Former municipal BNP convener Fazlul Haque, former upazila BNP joint convener Shah Abdullah Al Mamun, Altaf Golandaz Degree College principal Md. Atiqur Rahman, upazila Jamaat-e-Islam Amir Ismail Hossain Sohel, Professor Afzalur Rahman, Youth Festival, Newcomer and Pitha Festival organizing committee convener Associate Prof Md. Nazmul Huda, members Associate Prof Nishat Begum, Assistant Professor Md. Akhtaruzzaman, lecturers Md. Hannan Sarkar, Salman Kabir Sunny, Gafargaon Police Station OC Muhammad Shibirul Islam, along with teachers and guests were present as invited guests.

According to the organizing committee, about a hundred types of pitha were displayed and sold at 40 stalls in the day-long Pitha festival. Discussions and cultural programs were held on the fair premises on this occasion. The event turned into a lively festival for students and the public at one stage.

Mahidul Islam Mahid, a student leader of the college, said, "There were many beautiful pithas with beautiful names at the Pitha festival that I had never seen before. I heard and learned the names of many new varieties of pithas for the first time.

I ate pithas and enjoyed myself at this diverse pitha festival." Associate Professor Md. Nazmul Huda said, there was a festive atmosphere in the college because of this event. Many people, including students, were able to get acquainted with new pithas by coming to the Pitha festival. Professor Kazi Faruk Ahmed, Principal of Gafargaon Government College, said that such a unique event was organized to introduce the local tradition of this pitha to the students as well as the young and young children. He also said that pitha has almost disappeared from the country. Due to daily busyness, it can be said that these pithas are no longer made at home. Therefore, we want the new generation to get acquainted with these pithas at least one day in a joyful atmosphere.

The students participated happily and were able to eat pitha as well. Along with the introduction of pitha, there was a cultural program and festive atmosphere in the college.
