We must unite to eradicate drugs, regardless of party or opinion : State Minister Mir Helal

It is not enough to just control drugs, but to save the country and society, drugs must be eradicated through a united effort by everyone, regardless of party or opinion, said State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at an anti-drug rally organized by the district police at the Bandarban Minority Ethnic Cultural Institute auditorium on Thursday afternoon.
The State Minister said, drugs do not only destroy an individual, it pushes a family, society and the future of the country towards destruction. Therefore, relying only on law enforcement agencies against drugs will not work. People from every level of society, starting from families, must be aware and work together to eradicate drugs. He further said, to protect the youth and youth from the terrible scourge of drugs, they must be more involved in sports, cultural activities and educational programs. In addition to taking a strict stand against drug dealers and businessmen, a social movement must also be developed to reduce the demand for drugs.
The rally organized by Bandarban District Police was attended by Chittagong Range DIG Abdul Quddus Chowdhury, Bandarban Hill District Council Chairman Mamaching, Deputy Commissioner Saniul Ferdous, Police Superintendent Ohabul Islam Khandaker, officials from various government departments, public representatives, political leaders, civil society representatives, teachers, journalists and people from different walks of life.
Speakers at the rally said that in order to build a drug-free Bandarban, the administration, as well as the family and society, must play a responsible role. If everyone unites against drugs, it will be possible to protect future generations from the clutches of this terrible addiction.
