State Minister for Public Administration and Food Abdul Bari said, "Ensuring healthy and safe food in the market is very important to protect public health. The sale of open edible oil is creating serious health risks for the human body. Therefore, every stakeholder concerned must play a responsible and leading role from their own position to ensure adulteration-free and quality packaged edible oil in the markets."

He made these remarks at a district advocacy meeting on the role of local stakeholders to stop open sale of edible oil at the Joypurhat district administration conference room on Friday morning.

The meeting was organized by the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and sponsored by the National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh. Joypurhat District Administration provided overall support.

Among others who spoke at the meeting were Deputy Commissioner Al Mamun Mia, District Council Administrator and District BNP Senior Joint Convener Masud Rana Pradhan, Police Superintendent Shahnaz Begum, Bangladesh Food Safety Authority Consultant, National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute Founder Chairman Mushtaq Hasan Muh. Iftikhar, Director of the Pathology and Research Department of the National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute.
Prof Dr. Sohel Reza Chowdhury, District Food Safety Officer Sumaiya Afrin Jinia, District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain, Joint Convener Abdul Wahab, Joypurhat Press Club President Abu Bakkar Siddique and others.

Other speakers at the meeting detailed the various disadvantages and physical risks of selling open edible oil. They strongly urged everyone to work together to ensure 100% packaged edible oil in the market to protect the health of the common man.

Senior officials of the district administration, senior officials of the police administration, representatives of the Safe Food Authority and representatives of various local business organizations were present at the said district advocacy meeting.
