‘Festival of Youth 2025’ celebrated in Yangon

Bangladesh envoy to Myanmar Ambassador M Monwar Hossain said that the youth carry the spirit of building a new future with energy, passion and entrepreneurial spirit and are the beacon of change around the world.
He was speaking at the Youth Festival-2025 held on 1 February at the Embassy organised by the Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon. Programme of the day included fun-games, presentation on Bangladesh, display of Bangladeshi jute & leather products, cultural performances, henna drawing, pottery painting, traditional costumes put-on, screening of video documentary and tasting a wide range of Bangladeshi cuisine.
Young people from the local universities, cultural & social organizations, Bangladesh Community and Embassy family attended the programme.
Ambassador Hossain, at the beginning of his speech paid tribute to the martyrs of July-August movement.
Highlighting the commonalities between Bangladesh and Myanmar including attire, culture, language and cuisine, Ambassador said that these similarities can work as a bridge between the two neighbouring countries.
Highlighting the motto of the programme which is ‘Engaging Youth, Connecting Future’, Dr. Hossain said that the youths are the best Ambassadors of our respective countries to strengthen people to people ties.
A number of stalls portraying Bangladeshi heritage sites, touristic places, colourful potteries, jute & jute products, leather products, ceramics and exportable apparels were displayed. Bangladeshi Zamdani Saree and Punjabi were kept in the attire try-on booth to show our rich apparel legacy.
In the Henna corner, Myanmar girls painted their hands in colorful traditional Bangladeshi designs. A photo frame of trendy Bangladeshi motifs and a frame of Bangladeshi traditional rickshaw with bridal couple were placed to capture the moments.
In the cultural segment, Myanmar youths performed graceful dance performances with Bangladeshi and Burmese songs. Members of the Embassy family performed dance with famous traditional Bangla song.
The Embassy arranged a wide range of Bangladeshi cuisine including Biriyani, singara, piyaju, traditional pithas, sweets along with Burmese traditional desserts as dinner for the guests. At the end of the programme a beautiful video documentary on Bangladesh was screened portraying the touristic sites and natural beauties of Bangladesh.
Around 200 guests of different youth organizations of Myanmar attended the event.
