Ahmed Rubel-starrer film “Dear Satyajit” has got an award at the 5th Nepal International Cultural Film Festival in the International Feature Film Director category.

The Proshoon Rahmaan-directed film has won the prestigious award upon competing with five other international films— “Gift of Fear” (US), “The Dark Girl” (Germany), “Highway 15” (Mexico), “Cage Between Two Battle” (Turkey) and “Cake” (India) .

The 5th Nepal Cultural Film Festival held from 29 March to 31March in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Proshoon Rahmaan has dedicated the award to late actor Ahmed Rubel, who passed away on February7.

Bangladeshi child actor Atiqur Rahman Shihan has also won the Best Child Artiste award for his role in the film “Juddho Joyer Kishore Nayok”.

Written by Pasha Mostafa Kamal and directed by Shaila Rahman Tithi, “Juddho Joyer Kishore Nayok” is a government-granted film based on the story of Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971.

“Priyo Satyajit” is a tribute film based on the legendary Bengali film director Satyajit Ray. Independent filmmaker Proshoon Rahmaan has directed the movie.

The plot of movie focuses on three filmmakers from three different generations. The film features noted theatre, film and television actor Ahmed Rubel in the lead role.

Ahmed Rubel has played the role of an elderly filmmaker named Asif Mahmud, who is influenced by Satyajit Ray throughout his life. On the other hand, actress Moutushi Biswas will be seen as emerging filmmaker Aparajita, who is also the narrator of the story.

On the other hand, the central character of the film “Juddho Joyer Kishore Nayok” is a 17-year-old adolescent boy whose extraordinary courage, patriotism, and intelligence led him to victory in a crucial battle. Thus, the director emphasised that it is an inspirational film primarily targeted to influence children and adolescents.
