3 Natore expatriates killed in Saudi Arabia sofa factory fire

Three migrant workers hailing from Naldanga Upazila in Natore were tragically killed in a fire that broke out at a sofa factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The deceased have been identified as Sabbir Hossain Shuvo (son of Md. Rabbani from Sreepurpara village), Shamim Hossain (son of Md. Jaker Ali from Dhighirpara), and Rabiul Awal (son of Aslam Sheikh from Mahishdanga).
According to family and local sources, the three men had moved to Saudi Arabia a few years ago to support their families and were working at a sofa manufacturing factory in the Manfuha area of Riyadh. The fire broke out suddenly on Sunday afternoon (August 9, 2026) and quickly engulfed the entire factory premises, trapping and killing them inside while on duty.
Naldanga UNO Md. Al Imran Khan confirmed the tragic incident on Sunday night. News of the deaths has plunged the victims' families and local communities into deep grief.
