Bangladesh was robbed after the Liberation War, but Sheikh Hasina returned to the country and rescued it, educationists and historians have said.

Bangladesh regained true independence through Sheikh Hasina's homecoming. Under her leadership, the country is keeping pace with the world in the fourth industrial revolution, said speakers at a discussion on "Sheikh Hasina's Homecoming – Incredible Success of Communication System" at Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club on Friday.

Education Research and Development Forum of Bangladesh (ERDFB) organised the meeting.

Dr Syed Anwar Husain, Bangabandhu Chair of Bangladesh University of Professionals and former professor of History Department of Dhaka University, was the chief guest in the meeting.

Md Hadiuzzaman, professor of Civil Engineering Department at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) delivered the main speech at the programme.

Vice-Chancellor of Barishal University Professor Dr Mohammad Badruzzaman Bhuiyan delivered the welcome speech on the occasion.

BUET Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdul Jabbar Khan moderated the programme presided over by Professor Md Sajjad Hossain, member of the University Grants Commission.

Professor Syed Anwar Husain said, "After Sheikh Hasina came to the country, many things have happened in our country. We have received many things. The country has been recognized as a country of advanced status in the world. We won our country in exchange for 30 lakh martyrs, and the honour of 4 lakh mothers and sisters. This country was robbed. Sheikh Hasina came and rescued it. We have high expectations from her, because she is Bangabandhu's daughter. Bangabandhu's blood is in her veins."

Professor Sajjad Hossain said, "We have regained independence through Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's homecoming.

There is no leader like her in the world. Because of her return to the country, there has been an unprecedented development in Bangladesh. Bangladesh was a hundred years behind other countries in the past industrial revolutions. Under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is keeping pace with the world in the fourth industrial revolution."

Highlighting the development of the communication system, BUET Professor Md Hadiuzzaman said growth has played a big role in the development of Bangladesh.
