As part of the nationwide program to mark the 45th martyrdom anniversary of the great independence proclaimer, martyr President Ziaur Rahman, tree plantations have been organized in Dinajpur and saplings have been distributed among students.

About 350 fruit and herbal tree saplings were distributed in this program organized at Tafiuddin Memorial High School in the suburbs of Dinajpur Sadar Upazila on Thursday.
Among the saplings distributed were mango, jam, jackfruit, guava, amra, jambura, tamarind, amalki, jarul, batabi lemon, kamaranga, joitun, bell, ipil ipil, mahogany and native neem.

Adv Mofazzal Hossain Dulal, Administrator of Dinajpur District Council and District BNP President, delivered a brief speech as the chief guest at the event. He said, "This kind of program to protect the environment by embodying the ideals of Shaheed Zia deserves praise. If such programs are adopted in the future, we will have a green Bangladesh in the future."

Dinajpur District BNP General Secretary Bakhtiar Ahmed Kochi was present as the special guest. Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University Professor and Ziaur Rahman Foundation member and agriculturalist Professor Md. Hasanuzzaman delivered the welcome speech.

The program was hosted by agricultural expert Abu Tariq S.A. Siddiqui, a member of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation.

At the beginning of the program, special prayers and supplications were offered in memory of martyred President Ziaur Rahman. The prayers were conducted by agriculturist Humayun Kabir. In the discussion meeting organized after that, the speakers respectfully remembered the outstanding contribution of martyred President Ziaur Rahman in the Liberation War.

Among others present were Acting Headmaster of Tafiuddin Memorial High School Md. Shahiduzzaman, Director General of Wheat and Maize Research Institute, Dr. Mahfuz Bajaj, Deputy Director of BADC Thakurgaon, Md. Faruk Hossain, Engineer Abu Sayeed Badsha, Principal of Dinajpur Medical College Dr. Sheikh Sadeq Ali, General Secretary of DAB Dinajpur Dr. Md. Ziaul Haque, Dr. Md. Shafiul Haque and local agriculture and livestock officials and other dignitaries.

Teachers and a large number of students from that school participated spontaneously in the program.
