Zahed Parvez Chowdhury officially assumed charge as the new Sports Director of the National Sports Council (NSC) on Sunday, declaring a policy of "zero tolerance" against corruption to ensure transparency and accountability across the country's sports sector.

Taking over at his office in the presence of sports federation officials, former athletes, sports organizers, and journalists, the newly appointed director outlined his commitments toward sports development.

Speaking on his first day, Zahed Parvez Chowdhury stated that ensuring transparency in federation activities will be a priority alongside implementing government goals for sports. He added that any past allegations of irregularities or corruption would be thoroughly investigated, and urged federations, athletes, organizers, and journalists to work together toward a dynamic sporting ecosystem.

"Assuming the responsibility of the National Sports Council is both an honor and a major duty for me. Establishing transparency, accountability, and good governance in the country's sports sector will be my primary objective. We will work under a 'zero tolerance' policy against corruption," Chowdhury said.

He added that his office door would remain open to all stakeholders and that feedback from players, coaches, organizers, and sports journalists would be valued in building an international-standard sports arena.

Officials from various sports federations, veteran athletes, and organizers welcomed the new director with flowers. They expressed hope that under his leadership, administrative bottlenecks at the NSC would be cleared, ushering in positive changes for Bangladesh's sports sector.
