World Meeting Day: global recognition of innovation and creativity

Dr. Mohammed Mahtab Hossain Mazed

In this age of globalization, one of the main tools for the development, progress and global competition of a country is knowledge -based wealth or 'merit'. Today, revolution is happening through creativity and innovation in technology, art, literature, music, drugs or even agriculture. To protect and recognize this talent and creativity, on 26 April, the world is celebrated worldwide on "World Intellectual Day" or "World Intellectual Property Day".

This day is mainly celebrated to highlight the importance of intellectuals as well as encourage innovation and to increase public awareness about the rights concerned. In this article we will discuss the history, significance of the day, the different types of the merits, its requirements, the context of Bangladesh and future possibilities.

> What is the merit?

Intellectual Property or IP is the result of human brain thinking, innovation or creative activities, which are legally protected. Meghas can be categorized in different ways, which contains-

Patent: New technical innovation or process of process.

Copyright: Right to the creation of literature, music, films, films, software, etc.

Trademark: Name or symbol of the identity of the product or organization.

Industrial Design: External design or appearance of the product.

GI (GI - Geographical Indication): Recognition of traditional products in certain geographical areas.

All these rights are protected by the intellectual law so that the labor and merit of the creator can be properly evaluated and theft or unauthorized use can be prevented.

> History of World Meeting Day

The World Intellectual Property Organization of the World Intellectual Property (Wipo - World Intellectual Property) is initiated to celebrate World Miscens Day. This day was celebrated for the first time in the 2000st. The convention of Wipo came into effect on 26 April , and the global day was celebrated on April 26 every year to make that day memorable.

> The purpose and significance of the day

The main objective of World Miscellaneous Day is -

To celebrate innovation and creativity.

To raise public awareness about the importance of merit.

Encourage entrepreneurs, researchers and artists.

To highlight the role of the merits in economic development.

Increase awareness to prevent merit theft, fraud and illegal copies.

Every year WIPO determines a specific theme, such as "Women and IP", "IP and Smes", "Innovation - Improved Lives", etc. According to this theme, governments, educational institutions, NGOs and corporate institutions of different countries organize various programs.
> Menstruation and Global Development

The importance of technology and knowledge in today's world has grown so much that it is called 'capital of the new era'. The country that is innovative and capable of protecting me, the country is moving economically and socially. For example-

The United States: Technology, software, entertainment industry has created a billion dollar market through patents and copyrights.

Japan and South Korea: Electric and electronic products have developed a huge patent store.

China: In the past decade, most patent applicants have emerged as a country, which indicates their innovative trends and economic power.

> The context of Bangladesh

In Bangladesh too, the importance of merits is increasing day by day. The Government formed the "Meeting Directorate" in the 2000st and subsequently converted it into full "Patent, Design and Trademark Directorate (DPDT). GI has already been recognized for some products in Bangladesh, eg:

* Jamdani * Khirsapat mango (Chapainawabganj) * Rajshahi Silk * Shitalpati (Sylhet) * Nakshikantha (Rangpur) * Chuadanga's sweet GI products have made the way for local heritage and economic development. Besides, various training and assistance activities are being conducted so that local entrepreneurs can take international patents or copyrights.

> Challenges and restrictions

Many developing countries, including Bangladesh, are still facing various challenges in the merit system:

Lack of awareness: The general public, entrepreneurs, and even students do not have the right idea about merit.

Legal complexity: Time and money are expensive for the protection and cases of merit.

Technical Limitations: Research and Development (R&D) Investment in the sector is low because the rate of innovation is low.

Fake products: Fake products are spreading freely in the market, which are damaging real inventors.

> The possibilities and causes

The number of young people in Bangladesh is huge, whose creativity and innovative energy can be created to build a knowledge -based economy. This requires-

Education on merit: To include issues related to merit in schools, colleges and universities.

Simple Patent Application Process: Simple and low -cost patents and copyright documents based on online -based online.

Startup Assistance: Incubator, Venture Capital and Tax Vacation Benefits for Young Innovators.

Meeting Court: Establish a special court for speedy trial and settlement.

> Women and merit

The theme of the Wipo of 2023 was "Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity". It is also an important aspect of this day to encourage women to participate in innovative activities. Various initiatives are being taken so that women can protect their creativity through patent, copyright and design rights.

The number of women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh is increasing, especially in handicrafts, fashion design and food processing sector. These women need special assistance and training to protect and recognize me.
Finally, I would like to say that World Intellectual Day is an international stage for innovation, creativity and dignity of knowledge. It reminds us that the protection of merit and creativity is essential for economic prosperity, social progress and sustainable development.

It is a golden opportunity for developing countries like Bangladesh - where it is possible to make the economy more dynamic by highlighting domestic knowledge, technology and culture at the world stage. For this reason, it is important to develop the mentality of seeing meritorious as a legal process, but also to see the mentality of seeing ethnic resources.
