Bangladesh Safe Food Authority member Professor Dr. Mohammad Shoaib said that everyone wants food to be safe. For this, stakeholders at all levels, from production to consumers, must be involved. Food safety must be ensured through a coordinated effort. He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on formulation of ‘National Safe Food Policy’ at the divisional level in Sylhet on Thursday at a hotel in the city, initiated by the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority and in collaboration with USAID, Feed the Future Bangladesh Policy LINK agriculture policy Activity and Bsafe Foundation.
Khaleda Khanam, Senior Manager of Feed the Future Bangladesh Policy LINK agriculture policy Activity, delivered a speech on the national safe food policy at the workshop conducted by District Safe Food Officer Syed Sarfaraz Hossain. Stating that eight mobile laboratory vans in eight departments are conducting 31 types of tests including adulteration in milk, honey and various types of spices to detect food adulteration, a member of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority said that although multiple organizations are working to ensure food security in the country, there is a lack of coordination among them. Inter-agency coordination is essential to ensure safe food.
