Two Chhatra Dal leaders, 4 others arrested in dockyard robbery case in Rupganj

Members of the joint forces arrested two Chhatra Dal leaders and four others in a case filed in connection with a robbery at an establishment called Meta Center Limited Dockyard in Rupganj, Narayanganj. They were arrested from the Darikandi area of the upazila early on Sunday.
The arrested are Mehedi Hasan Ripon (32), former associate secretary of Narayanganj district Chhatra Dal, Akib Hasan (30), former member secretary of Murapara College branch Chhatra Dal, Pappu Mia (33), son of Hasan Ali of Darikandi area of the upazila, and Sadiqul Islam Sadu (40).
Quoting the joint forces, Rupganj Police Station OC Liaqat Ali said that on November 18, a group of miscreants robbed the Meta Center Limited Dockyard in Murapara area. The same group attacked the dockyard officials again on December 4 and tried to force them to withdraw the case filed against them. The gang, led by Mehedi Hasan Ripon and Aqib Hasan, has been accused of multiple extortion and robbery in the area.
Various patrol teams of Rupganj Army Camp had been trying to catch this gang for a long time. This gang was not in the area most of the time and would come to the area for a very short time and then leave the place after committing various crimes. On December 15, at 3 am, a team of Rupganj Army Camp and police conducted a joint operation after confirming their location in the area and arrested the 4 people in the dockyard robbery case.
The OC also said, the arrestees have been sent to the Narayanganj court.
