A human chain and protest rally were held in front of the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner's office in protest against the public threat to kill Daily Naya Diganta journalist Md. Mojahid for publishing news of irregularities and corruption in Gazipur.

The program, held at 12:30 pm on Sunday was presided over by Gazipur District Press Club President Dr. AKM Ripon Ansari and moderated by journalist SM Zahirul Islam.

The human chain was addressed by Gazipur Journalists Council Chief Advisor Shahan Shahabuddin, ATN News representative Mazharul Islam Masum, Gazipur Metropolitan Press Club President Amjad Khan, Bangladesh Press Club leader Musa Khan, DBC News journalist Mahmuda Sikder, journalists Mithun Siddiqui and Rubel Sarkar, and journalists from various media outlets.

Gazipur District Press Club President Dr. AKM Ripon Ansari said, "Threats to journalists mean silencing the media. We strongly condemn this heinous incident and demand the prompt arrest and exemplary punishment of the culprits."

Gazipur Journalists Council Advisor Poet and Journalist Shahan Sahabuddin said, "Journalists are the mirror of the nation. This is not just a threat to a journalist, but a severe blow to the freedom of the media. If the administration does not take immediate action, the journalist community will be forced to take strict action."

Incidentally, on the night of March 4, allegations of irregularities, harassment and extortion in the voter registration work at Sreepur Pilot High School were made against college Chhatra Dal leaders. Reports on the incident were published in multiple media outlets on March 6. After that, journalist Mojahid was publicly threatened with death.
