Temperatures soar in Mina, Muzdalifah : Saudi Govt issues maximum health alert
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued an urgent weather advisory warning that temperatures in the holy sites of Mina and Muzdalifah have reached a scorching 48°C.
The ministry added that if wind speeds remain stagnant, the heat index could surge up to 50°C during peak afternoon hours.
In light of the extreme weather conditions, the Saudi ministry has requested all departments, emergency services, and agencies involved in Hajj management to elevate their operational readiness to the highest tier and exercise maximum caution.
To guarantee pilgrim safety, authorities have urged Hajj agencies and guides to intensify awareness campaigns. Guides have been strictly instructed to advise pilgrims against walking outdoors during peak heat hours and to encourage them to remain inside their air-conditioned tents as much as possible.
The Saudi authorities have also advised pilgrims to use umbrellas for shade, consume large quantities of water and hydrating fluids, and strictly follow all health bulletins and operational safety guidelines issued by the management teams.
Echoing the high-level warning from the Saudi government, the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bangladesh has issued a special request to all Bangladeshi pilgrims. The ministry urged them to practice extreme vigilance, strictly follow heatwave safety protocols, and prioritize health regulations to prevent heatstroke and exhaustion.
